Surgery for Nora

On Monday morning Nora had her 2nd surgery. This one was a little more invasive than her first of just getting tubes. On Monday she had her 2nd set of tubes put in and her adenoids taken out. While the actual recovery wasn't supposed to be very bad, she was given orders to not be active for 2 weeks post surgery (no gymnastics, riding a bike, swimming, etc). This was to prevent her scars from opening up and needing surgery again. Had I known that I may have waited until summer was over.

We arrived at 6:15 for surgery scheduled for 7:45am. I can't say enough about how impressed I am with Children's. Everyone was so good to us and I knew she was in the best hands. There was a child life specialist who came to talk to her and explain everything that would happen. Luke and I were allowed to go back to the OR while they put her to sleep and the anesthesiologist was amazing! She held Nora (she wanted to sit up as I think the lights were bright in the OR), sang/talked to her until she fell asleep. I was so impressed! Luke and I were able to wait in her room until she got back. Dr. Soumekh gave us the update that she did great and we saw her a few minutes later! She woke up from anesthesia rather quickly and wanted a popsicle. She sat up and that made her tummy queasy so she laid back down and slept for another hour. When she woke up she wanted to go home right away. The nurse discharged us and we were on our way! Looking back I think I should have asked to stay longer as she got sick on the car ride home and at home for a few hours. I felt so bad! Thankfully she recovered in the afternoon after the anesthesia wore off and we enjoyed a quiet day at home.

She even got some cool Dr. swag to bring home to play with!

The crown she colored!

She wasn't quite herself until the anesthesia wore off.

At home, playing with Shopkins and feeling back to herself!!

Meanwhile--Bishop got to spend a couple days at Nana and Papa's all by himself! This was a huge treat for him and he didn't want to come back. He had so much fun! He did all his favorite things and went golfing!

And on Tuesday afternoon Nora and I drove down to pick Bishop up. We hung out for a bit--played at the park and then headed back home.
