Sleepover at Grandpa and Grandma's

Bishop and I had a sleepover at Grandpa and Grandma B's on Wednesday night while Luke was in Detroit Lakes for work. We had a great time and Bishop was able to meet a lot of people! Great Grandpa and Grandma Loken came over for lunch on Wednesday.

Grandpa B had to work quite a bit while we were there, so we visited him at the golf course Wed night while he was working. He was pretty excited to show off his new grandson to his friends at work! Bishop was also able to meet Lynor, Bernie and Peggy Falcone while we were out for a walk.

Thursday we had lunch with King and Heather, which was a lot of fun! Bishop got a lot of love while he was in Owatonna!!

Bishop has been "talking" and smiling more everyday!! He's been sleeping for a 5-6 hour stretch, but it starts a little early in the night (anywhere from 4:30pm-7:30pm). We'll continue to work on that so I can get some more sleep out of the deal! I'm just thrilled that he's going for a longer stretch (and that it's not in the middle of the day) :)

Bishop Richard's "Birth Day"

Welcome to the Froehle family Blog! I have been meaning to start a blog to document everything going on in our lives since Bishop was born and I'm finally getting around to it 11 weeks later!!

Throughout this blog I'd like to go back and document the events that led us to this date.

I was put on bed rest on Monday November 23rd due to preterm labor. I was restricted to lay on my side with the ability to get up to use the bathroom, take a shower and to sit up to eat. I was on bed rest for a total of 11 weeks. Being as active as I am, I thought it would be impossible for me, but when put in the situation it was just something I had to do and I knew it was the best thing for my baby.

Fast forward to Tuesday February 9th, 2010 (11 weeks 1 day on bed rest). I had my Dr's appointment in the morning. My blood pressure was high so my Dr ran some blood tests. I found out that afternoon (around 4pm, after Luke had a ski fall on his face and we were on our way to get him stitches) that I needed to go to Abbott as soon as possible due to high liver enzymes and low platelets. I was diagnosed with HELLP syndrome and was put on Magnesium (to reduce the incidence of a seizure) and was induced! The labor began and after 17 hours of labor and 2 hours and 45 minutes of pushing Bishop Richard Froehle was born on Wednesday Feb 10th at 12:32pm, weighing in at 5lb 120z; 20 inches long. We both had a very rough delivery and were in pretty rough shape for a little while. Bishop was born "sunny sideup" meaning he was face up, with his umbilical cord wrapped around his neck. He was taken to the special care nursery because he didn't transition well. He was flushed with saline and responded very well to that. He was put on an antibiotic IV and was "under the lights" due to jaundice. I was released from the hospital on Friday Feb 12th and Bishop was discharged on Saturday Feb 13th.

Bishop was admitted back into Children's Hospital on Sunday Feb 14th for the night. His jaundice wasn't improving and he needed more time "under the lights".

Bishop is a wonderful baby and we have been so blessed with him! It's hard to imagine how small and fragile he was, as he is a very healthy baby boy now!

I am so in love with my baby boy and I could never have imagined how wonderful it would be to be a mom!
