This is not a cheerful, happy update...and it's more for my recollection/diary than anything, so if you're not interested in reading about "sickness" you might want to skip this post!! We had a rough couple of weeks at the Froehle household, but things seem to be much better this week! Whew!
I left for Baltimore for training for my new position (MMS) on Sunday, January 13th. Luke had his VP of sales riding with him Mon-Wed, so he had to be gone Mon and Tues night. Both Grandma's had commitments on Tuesday night, but my mom forfeited her 500 night with her friends to help us out...and "helped us out" is an understatement looking back!
I checked in with Luke on Monday morning to see how the night went.......it was pretty bad! Nora threw up all over in her crib, so Luke had to clean everything up and get her back to sleep, etc. Speaking from experience, it's not an easy task to clean up and console a sick baby in the middle of the night! It was a one time incident and she kept her milk down and was fine in the morning. Luke had to meet his VP for work, so he took her daycare.....she didn't last long before she had a fever. My parents came and picked her up and spent the next couple of days with her. She had some messy diapers, but never got sick again. Noone else picked it up either--thank goodness! Mom and dad we could never thank you enough!! THANK YOU!
The rest of the week was relatively uneventful. It was so hard to be in a hotel room in Baltimore and to know Nora was sick and there was nothing I could do for her (or anyone else for that matter). My week of training went pretty well, but I was definitely ready to get home on Friday. Luke and the kids picked me up at the airport and I got some big smiles and kisses!
Jack was born Saturday morning, so Luke and I took turns visiting him. Saturday night...Nora got SICK again...multiple times. It was bad, really bad! Poor baby girl! I'll spare you all the details, but between Bishop and Nora, we had someone sick pretty much every day for the rest of the week. Bishop did get sick a few times (not as many as Nora) and both kids had diarrhea. It was ugly! I had to fly to Chicago on Monday--just for the day, for a meeting. Luke stayed home with Bishop because he was pretty sick in the middle of the night. Nora was every other day from then on...I was home with her on Wed and Fri. Thursday night was another really rough night for Nora (and Luke was gone this time) I took her to the Dr on Friday and I had to take her to Children's to have her blood drawn. Her electrolytes were off, which was most likely causing her to be dehydrated and nausea, which was contributing to her getting sick. If she got sick one more time we were to take her to Children's (regardless of when it was). I was fully prepared to take her to Children's in the middle of the night......but, thankfully she never got sick again and she's been fine ever since! Bishop's been healthy too!
It was so hard to watch them be sick and in pain. I hope the sickness stays away for awhile now! We are so thankful for our health! We hope you remain healthy during this crazy winter/flu season!

Vikings, Smoothies and 11 Months old!
This is kind of a random catch up entry! The Vikings played Green Bay to get into the playoffs....and WON!! Bishop and Nora (and mom and dad too) dressed up to cheer them on to Victory!

Bishop has really been into smoothies lately. He asks for them all the time and whenever he eats/drinks one he asks us to take his picture and then look at it! Here are a few.....
Miss Nora was 11 months old on 1/11/13! I can't believe she'll be one years old in less than a month! Her personality is really coming out lately! She tends to throw more "fits" than her brother did at this age. She LOVES crawling up the stairs and she thinks everything is funny (pulling your hair is one example). She's such a sweetheart and we are excited for her birthday coming up soon!
Jack Ryan
My sweet, wonderful, beautiful nephew waited for me to get home before he entered this world!! I was gone all last week for training in Baltimore. I was so worried I'd miss his birth, as I was traveling for work when Madelyn was born. I got home Friday night and Jack Ryan Bormann was born at 6:16am on Saturday morning!
He is such a sweetheart and we love him dearly! Due to the high rates of influenza this season, the kids weren't able to visit the hospital, so I went up Saturday morning and Luke went in the afternoon. Bishop was so sad to not be able to go...he kept saying "but I LOVE Auntie"! I can't wait for Bishop and Nora to meet their newest cousin.
Jack Ryan (I LOVE his name), was 8lbs 4oz and 21 3/4 in long. He came VERY fast and Shelly was a rockstar through labor and delivery! They are both doing well and enjoying their time together as a family of four!
I'm such a proud auntie! I can't wait to see him again, I miss him already! Unfortunately we have the stomach flu going through our house like a vengeance this week, so we'll wait another week before visiting the Bormann's!

Nora's Ears
Nora had a follow up appointment for her tubes last week. We were surprised to find out her ears were red and infected! Both ears had previously drained (which indicates the tubes are working as they are draining an infection), this time there was no drainage. I was a little frustrated and bummed, as it seemed she was still battling infections. However, there is no pain associated with them with tubes.
We had another appointment today to follow up on last week. Her ears were completely clear and she passed her hearing test and was within the normal range! Woo Hoo!! Her initial hearing test showed mild hearing loss (most likely due to fluid build up), but it was comforting to know she was in the normal range the tubes are working! Whew! We're supposed to follow up in 6-12 months...so hopefully she can stay "clear" until then! :)

Happy New Year!
We celebrated the New Year at home as a family this year (same as last year actually)!
We made a special dinner of steak and lobster and by the time the kids went to bed I was ready for bed myself!
With the busyness of the Holidays it was nice to be home and to get to bed early (I know I can be lame :). One of these years I'll make it up to ring in the New Year! I do believe I was up around midnight.....in a little girls bedroom, so we rang in the year together! ;)
2012 was good to our family! We welcomed Miss Nora to our family and she has brought so many smiles and giggles....she's such a sweetheart! With a new baby comes "trying to stay healthy". I think I've been on more antibiotics this year than ever before--but we've remained relatively healthy!
Our 2012 highlights:
Feb: Bishop's 2nd birthday followed VERY closely by Nora's birth
March: Luke wins President's Club and we got a free trip to FL
We got the great news we will be welcoming in another cousin/nephew to our family
June/July: we took our annual trip to CO as a family and went hiking and swimming
August: Luke and I joined 6 friends on a BWCA trip--we missed the kids, but had a great time!
Sept: The Annual Bishop Vacation on the North Shore--a little chaotic this year, but nice to get away and spend time together hiking, swimming and relaxing!??! Ha!
Oct: I took a new job at BD which is going very well!
Along with those highlights we celebrated Bishop being 100% potty trained (we started in Feb and he pooped his pants for about 8 months....and then on Halloween he started going on the toilet)! I guess he's not 100% trained because he still wears a diaper to bed, but I don't even care! :)
We also celebrated Nora walking at 10 months. She's had lots of celebrations this year! :)
I hope I didn't miss anything!
Happy 2013 to you and yours! I understand there are a lot of people who have experienced heartbreak, pain and sadness and I pray that 2013 will be a year of love, comfort and peace for all!

Sledding
On Saturday morning we took the kids sledding by our house. It was Nora's first time out and she seemed to enjoy it! We walked to Lake Harriet (the hill one the NW side). Luke and I pulled the kids in the sleds and they did great! Nora even got to go down hill with "the boys"!
