Colorado Day 1/Estes Park

Although it was looking like we might not make it back to Colorado this summer--we found some cheap flights and for the first time in 7 years we flew to Colorado....and I'd have to say....it was the best trip yet!

We flew out on Saturday, July 9th on a 7:20am flight. It was an early morning--but we took an Uber to the airport, checked in with no problems and ran into my parents who were flying to Alaska that morning! We bought a couple bubblebums for the kids--they are inflatable car seats and they are amazing for traveling! I would highly recommend them! They made everything so easy and slick and after the Uber we deflated them, threw them in our backpacks and blew them back up again when we got our rental car in Denver!

Nora and Lucy in the Uber van!

I took a picture of the kids holding onto their daddy's hands walking in the last time we flew! ;)

Ready to fly--and Teddy gets to go back to Colorado!
It was so fun seeing my parents and wishing them off on their 40th anniversary trip! It was a fun way to kill some time while we waited for our flight too!

The flight there wasn't full, so we had a full row (6 seats) for our family! Both the kids could look out the window and they both loved it! They were much more into it this time compared to when we flew to Mexico.

The flight attendants and pilot were SO nice to the kids! They each got "wings" and the pilot offered both kids to sit in the cockpit and wear his hat! Bishop wasn't interested, but Nora was--so her and her baby Lucy checked it out!
Co-pilot Nora!
Everything went so smoothly--our luggage was waiting for us when we got to baggage claim, our car was waiting for us and by 10:30 we were in Estes Park!!! It hadn't dawned on me that we wouldn't be able to check in to our hotel--but that was the only little snafu of the day. We went to a park to play, grabbed some lunch downtown, swam in the pool and then our room was ready!

Taking a little nap by the pool before we could get into our room! Don't be fooled--no one slept! ;)

Luke's great idea to use the pool tools to get a ring out of the deep end!

He brought his sling shot from last year and shot pebbles in the river!

The river right out side our room!

After getting checked in the kids laid down for a nap (thankfully), Luke went to get groceries and I unpacked. We re-grouped and headed to the Rodeo (or the Radio as the kids called it) that night!

The kids wanted cowboy/girl hats--so they each got a hat for the night!

Nora LOVES horses and wants to be one when she grows up!

Mutton Bustin'
We were all a little tired from the early morning, but it was fun to get to the Rodeo and check it out again. Bishop even said he wants to try Mutton Bustin' next year! It's the event for kids to ride a sheep and they hold on as long as they can! We really wanted to stay to see the Bull riding, but we just couldn't do it--we were all so tired and had enjoyed the rodeo as much as we could already! It was after 9pm (which is 10pm CST)! It was a great first day......and it felt so great to be back in the Mountains!
