Colorado Day 4/Estes Park

On Tuesday Luke and I got our wish--we went for a hike! This was the first year we didn't bring the hiking back pack as both kids are too big for it. We knew we wouldn't be going on too strenuous or long of a hike and in the end everyone did great! We hiked to Bierstadt Lake, which we've been to many times before; however, we've always taken a different way to get there. This hike was about 1.5-2 miles to the lake and another 1.5-2 miles back to our car--instead of doing an out and back hike we took a shuttle and hiked back to our car.

My hikers!

We stopped at the lake for some lunch. It's usually pretty windy by the lake and a little cooler--it's always amazing at how much the temperature can fluctuate in the mountains!

Such a beautiful lake!

A small tumble resulted in a minor injury! Ouch!
Luke had promised Bishop he could go fishing 2 times while we were in Estes Park--so we headed back to the Trout pond after our hike. It was a hot and sunny afternoon and there wasn't much shade to protect us........Bishop had a couple bites early on, but lost the fish and then the fish weren't biting. Bishop had the most patience out of all of us--and after a family graciously lent us some night crawlers (different bait than they provided us) Bishop caught 2 fish!

It was our last night in Estes Park--and we had dinner at the Mexican restaurant by the river. It was perfect--we sat outside and the kids played at the playground while we waited for our food. There was a musician in the park that was singing some John Denver, so the kids enjoyed some ice cream while listening to him sing! It was one of my favorite times on the trip--just a lovely, laid back family night--everyone was happy!
