We had quite the opposite labor/delivery experience compared to Bishop, but it was SO much better!! I woke up around 1am, not feeling well and feeling some contractions. They weren't terribly painful, but I started keeping track of them. They seemed to be pretty close together, but it was hard to tell, as it was more back labor and I didn't know if I was truely in labor. I never went back to sleep--and at 3:30am I asked my parents to come up, as I'd feel more comfortable having them here. I went downstairs and kept busy, which seemed to keep the contractions away for awhile. I was starting to think it wasn't necessary to have my parents come in the middle of the night, but they were already on their way.
We had Bishop's birthday party planned for 11am and I definitely knew I wouldn't make it to Sunday (my induction), but I wasn't sure what would happen and I figured I could be there for his party.
Around 9-9:30 the contractions started becoming very painful and consistent....they were about 2 1/2 minutes apart, but it was still back labor, so I didn't think I should call or go in yet, as I couldn't tell if it was "true labor" (especially since I was induced last time and had such a different experience). Shelly, Ryan and Madelyn got here around 10--she took one look at me and said..."you need to go to the hospital NOW", so I called in. The Dr suggested i go in to be checked out...Luke packed the car and we were on our way. I was sad to leave Bishop, especially for his party, but he was too busy playing with Madelyn to be too concerned.
We arrived at the hospital around 10:45 and Nora was born at 12:05pm. Things went very fast, I didn't have an epidural and all went as smoothly as they could!
It worked out great that all our family came to the hospital to meet Nora after Bishop's party!
I am so blessed to have such a healthy family! Bishop is very excited to be a big brother!!
