Day 6-Fishing, Elk, Alluvial Fan, Swimming in the rain, Emily

On Wednesday we woke up to rain. Bishop loves fishing so much and he had been asking to go fishing again....so we set out to the fishing pond. The fish were biting in the rain and he pulled in 3 rainbow trout in minutes! He actually had 4, but one got away (which was a good thing, as it was a small one and you HAVE to keep what you catch). It's a stocked pond in town that provides all the bait, poles, nets, etc that you need to fish--you basically rent all the gear for $1 and then you pay $1/inch for whatever you catch! It was another fun fishing day...but it didn't last long as we couldn't afford to keep catching fish! :)

After fishing we stopped at our cabin to get the fish in the fridge and there were 2 Elk in our driveway! We had seen the Elk before...but not quite this close! We got out and took some pictures!

After the Elk sighting we headed up to the Alluvial Fan in RMNP to hike around (and use the slingshot) a bit. When we got there we saw another grouse (or Tarragon) with some babies. We hiked around for a bit and headed back to our cabin.

We swam in the rain today! The pool is heated, although it felt pretty cold to me.....it didn't bother the kids and we did a lot of back and forth to the hot tub (Luke's waiting for them to go back to the hot tub in this picture)! ;)

After a quick dip in the pool we headed over to Mary's Lake Lodge to meet up with Emily! It's always a treat to get to see Emily. Her boyfriend, Raymond, came along as well and the kids loved seeing them. They were great! We just hung out in the lobby area on the couches, the kids colored and ate their pretzles while the adults enjoyed happy hour together!

After hanging out for a couple hours we headed back to our place for the night. The kids made their own little fort and watched a movie from there! :)
