Miss Courtney

Friday, June 29th was Bishop's last day in the Two's room! He had Miss Courtney as his teacher for the past 7-8 months. She is one of the best teachers, who Bishop absolutely LOVED!! He was one of Courtney's favorites as well, which ended up causing a few problems in the end, but she was THE BEST!

We will all miss Courtney. She was so good for Bishop. She bought things with her own money for the classroom, including the "snakey" that grew in the water, and the pink flamingo that hatched out of its shell. She was creative with their art projects and that was something Bishop absolutely loved.

It wasn't that long ago that I was worried about what would happen when it was time to move on past Courtney's room. However, lately, it seemed Bishop was getting bored in his classroom and he was taking advantage of the fact that he knew he was one of Courtney's favorites. He was one of the bigger and older kids in the room and he started becoming aggressive with the younger kids (and he wasn't listening very well). Typically, kids don't move into the preschool room for 3+ more months, but we all decided Bishop needed more structure and it would be best for him to be with the older kids.

It's kind of hard to believe he's in preschool already, but he seems to be adapting very well. The move to preschool is a big step. There's no "free-time", the kids have to decide what area they want to play in....they all have a popsicle stick with their name on it and they place their stick on the poster that they want to play in. Before they can move areas, they need to clean up their area and ask to move on. It's amazing how much more structured it is....and his friend Fiona is in this class and they adore each other!

Bishop has been asking to see Courtney and she told me whenever he sees her he waves, points, jumps up and down and runs to give her a hug. They had an event yesterday where the classes were combined and he asked Miss Courtney if she would sit by him. This morning when I brought him in he HAD to say hi to her (in her classroom). She is one teacher we will never forget!!

Thanks for everything you did, Courtney!!
