I know I'm WAY behind on blogging...and I intend to catch up one day soon! But, I had to share this story quick, before I forget it (as this serves as more of documentation place for me, than anything).
First of all, I love our neighborhood and especially the block we live on. There are a ton of kids always playing outside, running around and everyone is so welcoming and friendly! Tonight is the first block Happy Hour--there are 2 pink flamingos and on Friday night you can find them in front of one of our neighbors front lawns, which means....BYOB to their house for happy hour and a free play date! :) The neighbors that are "hosting" tonight sent out a note to collect food for the food drive that the mother volunteers at. She brought up a good point that this time of year is crucial for food shelves because there are a lot of kids getting out of school that will no longer be receiving food at school.
So........here comes the "story", it's taken awhile to get to it, sorry about that! This morning I was explaining to Bishop that there are people who don't have as much money as we do and some people don't have enough money to buy food and they get hungry, so we're going to give them some of our food. My neighbor also said they are in need of soap, so I explained that not everyone can afford soap to take a bath...so we're going to give a couple of bars of soap too. Bishop immediately ran to his piggy bank and said.....I give 5 pennies to the people! Tears were streaming down my face! I was so proud! We took 5 pennies out of his piggy bank and put them in an envelope. He continued to talk about "the pennies for the people". He also went upstairs and got "baby's ie: Nora's" soap to donate!
