Memorial Day weekend 2012

I had quite the busy week leading up to Memorial Day! We celebrated the weekend before with Kaylin's Wedding and my dad's birthday and then I left Monday morning for San Diego for a work meeting. I got home at midnight Thursday night and turned around and packed up the car on Friday to leave for the North Shore. I missed the kids like CRAZY while I was in CA, I was fine, but missed them more than usual this time around! It was nice to have a long weekend, away to look forward to!

We stayed at Eagle Ridge and of course, did some swimming! Bishop was a little more hesitant this time around-it was the first time he wasn't so sure of the pool/water. He got used to it and by the end of our three days there he was going down the slide and going underwater. We're going to have to make a point to get him to the pool more often this summer!

He kept wanting to go in the "HOT water"!

The weather wasn't the greatest, but we never got rained on and we were still able get out and do what we wanted to do.  On Saturday, we hiked up to the chalet at Lutsen. We followed the ski trails up to the chalet and had lunch.....we left the cabin at 9:30 and I made sandwiches to take with. I asked Luke if he thought we'd be back by 11:30, as that was when Nora was due to eat. He said, "yeah, we'll be back by then", so I didn't bring our sandwiches. Well, we got to the chalet around 11 or so.....we had lunch, I fed Nora and then we took the long way home!!! We didn't get back to our place until 3:30!! Bishop hiked a good part of the hike and did awesome! I bet he hiked over 4 hours and he didn't slow us down. He loved it! I had Nora in the bjorn and she did great too!

Bishop fell asleep on the way up to the chalet--and he stayed sleeping in the backpack after we got to the top!

Hiking back to our place from the Chalet (I'm pretty sure Bishop is picking his nose here)! Ha!

We had to celebrate a hard days work with a dip in the pool! This was Nora's first time swimming! She seemed to like the pool and the water! She didn't go under though! :)

Bishop was obsessed with holding Nora and playing with her!

Bishop would sit on Nora and ride her like a "horsey"....she absolutely loved it! She kept laughing and laughing and laughing!!

Playing in the bathroom!

Sunday morning was rainy, so we started the day off at the pool. We went over to Caribou Highlands and were able to get in their pool. It's a nicer pool and there was a slide. Bishop was hesitant at first, but once he warmed up he kept going down the slide over and over and over!

There was another family swimming while we were there. They had a daughter a little older than Bishop and a son that is 3 days older than Nora. Nora and Brody hung out with their brother and sister swam!

That afternoon we drove up to Judge Magney State Park for a hike up to the Kettle Falls.

There were a ton of stairs and Bishop did awesome....down and up!

In front of the falls!

Monday we took off for home! We stopped in Duluth to burn some energy and grab a quick bite to eat (an icee and popcorn)!

It was the perfect weekend away! The kids slept pretty good, considering the circumstances! We were all four in one bedroom and it wasn't that big. Bishop was in the pack and play next to Luke's side of the bed and Nora slept in her carseat next to my side of the bed. Bishop didn't wake up when Nora woke up to eat, so that was nice! It was a good practice run for our trip to Colorado this summer!
