We scheduled Bishop's 3 Year and Nora's 12 Month Appointments together, and it worked out quite well! Here's the recap:
Bishop:
38 lbs (94%)
39 1/4" (88%)
He had his blood pressure taken for the first time (aside from when he was first born and EVERYTHING was monitored, including his lil BP). His BP was great! He also had his eyes checked for the first time. Luke went with him to have his vision checked, while I stayed with Nora for her shots. At first he struggled with one of his eyes, but it was just "due to his age"....and he was just fine. I didn't know if he'd actually know and recognize the shapes/objects on the chart, but he did!
Bishop's been potty trained since Oct 31st, although he still wears a diaper to bed. The Dr said that is just fine and a lot of kids wear diapers/pull ups to bed for awhile.
The other cute story was the Dr was asking about his development and if he knows/recognizes animals.....there was a border in the office with some animals in it--the Dr asked him what the different animals were (cow, horse, bird, deer). His answers were "Cow, Horse, Bat, Kangaroo"! In his defense the bird was a big black bird in flight and he was reading a "bat book"....and the deer looked nothing like a typical deer. The Dr nodded and smiled--giving him credit for coming up with Bat and Kangaroo! It was kind of cute and I'm not worried at all! :)
Here's what's new with Nora:

Head: 46.4cm (85%)
She's pretty healthy and there's not too much to report on Nora. We've noticed a small circular bluish/purplish mark on her cheek. It's not eczema, as it appears it's under the skin. It's more noticeable when she's a little cooler.....we learned it's vascular and there's nothing we can do about it. It should be less noticeable as her skin thickens as she gets older, but it probably won't ever go away. It's completely cosmetic, but it's not very noticeable, so we'll deal with it, if it becomes something that bothers her.
We introduced whole milk a few days before her appointment and she wasn't necessarily gulping it down....the Dr said it's nothing to be worried about. At that point I was still nursing her at night, so she was getting a little breastmilk--he said that she was probably holding out for that. I stopped nursing a few days ago and she's drinking a little whole milk, so she'll probably continue to get used to it.
We are so blessed to have 2 healthy and happy kids.

Happy 1st Birthday Nora!
Nora, Nora! Happy First Birthday my dear! You are such a sweetheart and your smile lights up the lives of so many! You have such a happy and positive disposition about you and it's contagious!
Ever since you entered this world, you have been a sweet, sweet girl! From the VERY early days everyone has commented on what a tough girl you are (and will be)....with a big brother like Bishop--you just roll with the punches (literally) and you've started defending yourself. You've had your brother in tears a couple of times already--I think he's realized being your friend is the best option! :) Bishop adores you and you adore him! I love your independence and exploratory personality! You are a busy girl and you enjoy climbing into Bishop's bed, onto your new step stool (from The Bormann's), climbing up the stairs and trying to keep up with whatever Bishop is doing. You've been walking for a couple of months already and it seems you may be close to running!
You give the best hugs ever and you'll give them to just about anyone who will let you! ;) I love your cuddles and snuggles!
Your daddy and I joke about how Bishop is just like him and you're just like me.....we know what to expect and what we're getting into, but it's also a little scary for the same reason! :) I have seen more "tantrums" from you than your brother at this age--it doesn't make you happy when someone takes something away from you that you like....you'll arch your back and scream out--but it doesn't take long for you to find something else to make you happy!
You and Bishop get along great, although you seem to be quite different. I absolutely love your differences and your personalities! One example is swimming....the first few times you held on to me for dear life for the first 45mins or so....and then you loved it! When we went yesterday you loved the water from the beginning, so it's fun to see you adapt and enjoy your surroundings!

Happy 3rd Birthday Bishop!
Bishop--from the day you were born you have kept us on our toes! You have more energy than anyone else I know and your love for life is second to none! I don't know of anyone else who sincerely LOVES everything they try! I absolutely LOVE that about you!!! You are SO good to your baby sister and you always have been. Most recently, you have made sure she is "taken care of" and is "ok"! You'll share your toys with her and you want her to join you in playing with your toys and hanging out just the two of you. I couldn't be more proud of you for that! Nora absolutely adores you and looks up to you! She's already trying to jump on your bed, which isn't necessarily the thing I'm most proud of you teaching her, but you have and will continue to teach her many things. :) When she cries you try to console her and tell her everything is ok--you clap your hands and sing to her when she's crying.

One more week!
One week from today and I'll have a 3 year old and a 1 year old! Wow--this past year has absolutely FLOWN by! I can't believe it's almost been a year already!
On Saturday Luke rode in a bike ride in Mpls (The Stupor Bowl)--it was an all day (and night) event, so the kids and I took a trip down to visit nana and papa for the day. Before we left....Bishop decided to try on my boots! Ha!

On Sunday The Hennum's came over for the Superbowl. Tim's mother, Mary Lenhardt, passed away on Wednesday after a battle with Gallbladder Cancer. She was such a neat woman, who was too young, active and healthy to have her time on earth end. It was nice to get together and laugh a little with Tim, Liana, Siena and Maia! They are like family and we love them so much!

Baby Jack and Happy Birthday Uncle Ryan!!
On Friday the kids were finally able to meet Baby Jack! They weren't allowed at the hospital, due to the high flu season and we had planned to go the weekend before, but had to cancel due to the stomach flu at our house! The kids really enjoyed meeting Jack and playing with cousin Madelyn! It was a really fun night together!
This is the best cousin picture we could get!! Poor Jack was a little overwhelmed...he has no idea what's in store with his crazy cousins! :)

Snowman
Bishop and Daddy made this really neat snowman one night.....and not long afterwards he was a pile in the lawn. It was quite bizarre because it wasn't warm out and it actually appeared as if he may have been knocked over. Who knows?!?! They had fun while it lasted!

Training in Baltimore and the Stomach Flu
This is not a cheerful, happy update...and it's more for my recollection/diary than anything, so if you're not interested in reading about "sickness" you might want to skip this post!! We had a rough couple of weeks at the Froehle household, but things seem to be much better this week! Whew!
I left for Baltimore for training for my new position (MMS) on Sunday, January 13th. Luke had his VP of sales riding with him Mon-Wed, so he had to be gone Mon and Tues night. Both Grandma's had commitments on Tuesday night, but my mom forfeited her 500 night with her friends to help us out...and "helped us out" is an understatement looking back!
I checked in with Luke on Monday morning to see how the night went.......it was pretty bad! Nora threw up all over in her crib, so Luke had to clean everything up and get her back to sleep, etc. Speaking from experience, it's not an easy task to clean up and console a sick baby in the middle of the night! It was a one time incident and she kept her milk down and was fine in the morning. Luke had to meet his VP for work, so he took her daycare.....she didn't last long before she had a fever. My parents came and picked her up and spent the next couple of days with her. She had some messy diapers, but never got sick again. Noone else picked it up either--thank goodness! Mom and dad we could never thank you enough!! THANK YOU!
The rest of the week was relatively uneventful. It was so hard to be in a hotel room in Baltimore and to know Nora was sick and there was nothing I could do for her (or anyone else for that matter). My week of training went pretty well, but I was definitely ready to get home on Friday. Luke and the kids picked me up at the airport and I got some big smiles and kisses!
Jack was born Saturday morning, so Luke and I took turns visiting him. Saturday night...Nora got SICK again...multiple times. It was bad, really bad! Poor baby girl! I'll spare you all the details, but between Bishop and Nora, we had someone sick pretty much every day for the rest of the week. Bishop did get sick a few times (not as many as Nora) and both kids had diarrhea. It was ugly! I had to fly to Chicago on Monday--just for the day, for a meeting. Luke stayed home with Bishop because he was pretty sick in the middle of the night. Nora was every other day from then on...I was home with her on Wed and Fri. Thursday night was another really rough night for Nora (and Luke was gone this time) I took her to the Dr on Friday and I had to take her to Children's to have her blood drawn. Her electrolytes were off, which was most likely causing her to be dehydrated and nausea, which was contributing to her getting sick. If she got sick one more time we were to take her to Children's (regardless of when it was). I was fully prepared to take her to Children's in the middle of the night......but, thankfully she never got sick again and she's been fine ever since! Bishop's been healthy too!
It was so hard to watch them be sick and in pain. I hope the sickness stays away for awhile now! We are so thankful for our health! We hope you remain healthy during this crazy winter/flu season!
