Tuesday night was National Night Out and since our neighborhood celebrates in Sept we don't have a block party on National Night Out. Luke was out of town along with his co-worker and friend, so they invited us to their block party. The kids had a blast! There was a jumpy house and a play firehouse and the kids had fun running around (and eating multiple cupcakes)!

Wednesday Grandma came to visit! She always brings the kids cookies from the Cold Spring Bakery and they absolutely LOVE them, of course! :)

There was an all comers track meet at SW High School Wednesday night. Kids and adults can participate and so we went to check it out. Bishop and Nora both ran the 60 meter dash and the 100 and Bishop did the long jump! It was so much fun and very well organized and put together!

Bishop was in heaven. He smiled the whole time and had a great time. He's a bit competitive though--and he kept saying "I'm going to WIN"! Nora caught on and was soon saying the same thing! :)
Bishop won the 60 meter dash and didn't stop at the finish line--he kept running around the curve! Nora had a tough time getting off the starting line. She needed a little help from mom to make it down the track! :)

Nina let me know about the event, as she had taken Jack once before. He remembered the loud gun and had his hands over his ears the entire night!

After the 60 meter dash came the 100 meter dash. Bishop was a little more reluctant to run since there were older kids in his heat and he didn't want to lose-but he ran hard and gave it his all and did great.....and smiled at the end! :) Nora wasn't going to miss out on something Bishop was doing--she said "I want to run the 100" and got up to the starting line with the bigger kids! She really wanted to share a lane with Bishop, but they kept asking her to take her own lane. When the gun went off she just turned and walked to her dad. I'm glad she enjoyed it and wanted to run again, especially after the 60 meter dash! :)

It would have been Great Grandpa Arnie's 91st birthday on Wednesday so we celebrated at the park after the track meet with cupcakes (I got the idea from my very thoughtful sister)! :) I miss his smile and his stories and being able to visit him when we go to Owatonna, but I'm so thankful he's not in pain anymore and it's comforting to know he's in a better place! I love you, Grandpa and we'll never forget you!
