I got home last Thursday night, just in time to see Bishop before he went to bed! ;) He was up a little late, but it's been hard to get him to bed lately, so I enjoyed seeing him before he fell asleep!
We were going to Park Rapids with the Moore's to Michelle's family cabin on Friday, so I had a busy morning planned to get everything ready to pack up and get out of town (our hope was by 12:30 so the kids could nap on the way). Bishop had other plans for us.......at 10am I got a call from daycare that he had "an accident" and that he scraped his arm on the chain link fence. They thought we should take him in. We brought him to the Dr and the Dr suggested we take him to Children's for stitches....so off to Children's ER we went! Everything went very smoothly and Children's is absolutely phenomenal! They put topical novocain on, so he didn't need it to be injected. The only downside to that was we had to wait 45-60 minutes for it to work. Bishop was very cooperative and helpful throughout the entire process.
When Dr. Inman (or Minman, as Bishop calls him) came in he asked to see Bishop's owie--Bishop was more concerned with the burn mark he had on his arm from 2 weeks ago when he touched the cookie sheet than he was about his arm that needed stitches!

He kept asking the nurse who gave him the topical novocain if he could have a boy Dr. There was a man and a woman who checked us in and then the man had to help someone else...so he left the room...Bishop kept asking "Where is the boy?" I want the boy! He got a spiderman tattoo at Dr. Inman's and he was more interested in showing that off than he was about his owie! It really didn't phase him much at all!

We got to watch a couple of movies (not the entire thing) while we waited for the Dr. He was so good and didn't complain once!

| Waiting so patiently for the Dr to stitch him up! He got to watch movies and he thought that was really cool! |
He sat on my lap on the bed while getting stitches. They hung a towel up so he couldn't see them stitch him up and he did great! After 3 (of 5) stitches were in he said "mom, it hurts"--we knew we were so close to being done, but he kept saying "it really hurts"...he felt the last 2 stitches, but took it like a champ! He looked over at Luke, put his head down, clenched his teeth and had a couple tears in the corners of his eyes....and then he was done! He was so brave all day and he did better than I would have done! I was so impressed!!

| 5 BLUE stitches! The white area is from the topical novocain. |
It was really warm in the room, as is evidenced by his red face.

Bishop is a pretty tough guy! I know I'm his mother and I'm a little biased, but he really handled everything so well. The teachers said he hardly cried when it happened and he was so brave all day! I'm so proud of him!
Everything went really smoothly and he's been fine ever since. He doesn't really like to show off his stitches and he never complains about them! I've touched them a few times on accident, as they're in a tough place to avoid when putting him in his carseat, etc. It was a little hiccup in our day, but we ended up leaving at 3:30, so it wasn't TOO bad! I'm sure this will be the first of many accidents for our active boy, it's a good thing he's tough!!
