Ryan's first Tri--Saturday August 27th

Ryan competed in his first triathlon (the Maple Grove Triathlon) the day before Madelyn's baptism and he did awesome!! He dominated the OLYMPIC distance in his first tri, I was so impressed! The olympic distance consists of a 1 mile swim, 25 mile bike and 6.2 mile run. It was a nice day and we were fortunate enough to see Ryan transition from the swim to the bike and bike to the run.  Luke and Bishop and I had to leave before we could see him finish, but it was a great day and Ryan did awesome!
Ryan after the swim....he was smiling, but all we heard him say was "that sucked!"

Luke played with the kids and Bishop helped out by bringing Madelyn all her toys

Katie's husband (Shelly's friend) also competed in his first triathlon. He did the sprint distance and we were all a little nervous when we never saw him come out of the water, especially because he isn't the strongest swimmer and he hadn't trained as much as he would have liked to for the swim. THANKFULLY, it was just that we missed him get out of the water and he was just fine. It was a bit stressful for awhile, but he did great!

It was a very fun morning and that was just that was just the start to our very fun weekend! We had to leave early to go to a BBQ at Luke's cousins for lunch. Saturday evening we had Henry's birthday party to go to! We were all ready for bed when we got home that night!
