2nd Anniversary

May 17th, 2008 was the most perfect day! I can't believe we've been married for 2 years already!! I have so many wonderful memories from our wedding day and weekend! We are so blessed to have such wonderful family and friends who we were able to celebrate with--everything was absolutely perfect and looking back, I wouldn't have changed a thing!

We celebrated tonight by going to our favorite restaurant, Al Vento, for dinner. Eileen came down to watch Bishop so we could enjoy our evening, just the two of us. We reminisced about our wedding day and started planning our anniversary trip for 2011--the plan is to go to Europe for an extended vacation....I'm already excited!!

I am so blessed to have such a wonderful husband and father to our son--Luke is absolutely wonderful and I couldn't be happier. The past 2 years have been the best two years of my life!!! I love you, Luke!

Bishop's First Camping Trip

Bishop had his first camping trip this weekend!

Saturday morning we packed up the car and headed up to Banning State Park. We did some hiking there while Tim and Liana kayaked the Kettle River. It was a beautiful day--and Banning State Park is a beautiful park! We hiked along the river and tried to avoid the mosquitos! Bishop did great--he loves the Baby Bjorn, which makes everything more fun for us too!

We camped at Jay Cooke State Park that night. We set up camp and headed into Duluth for dinner at Fitger's. It got pretty cool at night, but Bishop was bundled up in his carseat, so he stayed plenty warm! He only got up once in the middle of the night and it could have been because we woke him by putting on the cover to his carseat. At 3 in the morning we heard some rustling outside the tent.....Luke shined his light on the campsite to find a skunk rummaging through some of the garbage we had accidentally left out.

Sunday morning we made some breakfast at the campsite and Luke, Tim and Tim's friend, Tim went kayaking. It was Luke's first time kayaking! While the guys kayaked, Bishop, Liana, Siena, Maia and I went for a hike. We went on the swinging bridge and hiked around for awhile. It was a great first camping trip for Bishop. He did so well!! He is such a good baby and he makes things so easy and enjoyable for us!

We got home between 3-4 in the afternoon and immediately set off on a walk to Minnehaha Falls, where we had dinner at SeaSalt. It was the perfect ending to a great weekend!!! The weather was absolutely PERFECT to be outside the entire weekend!

Friday Fun

We had a playdate with some of Bishop's friends today. Marie Bitzer had Bishop and I and his friends over to play and have some lunch. Ruby and Violet were there (Henry was at school), Carrie, Fintan and Stella, and Lisa and Anna Rose were all there. We had a great time!

After lunch we met up with some good friends, Brooke, Jill and Oliver for a walk around Lake Calhoun! It was a BEAUTIFUL day for a walk.

Tonight we went back to the Bitzer's for a BBQ. The McGovern's and Steffens were there as well. Bishop had some fun play time with his girlfriends, Violet and Amelia.

Lunch at 5-8 Club

Yesterday we met Grandma B and Great Grandpa and Great Grandma Loken out for lunch at the 5-8 Club! Great Grandpa Loken had an appointment at the VA, and we were lucky enough to join them for lunch!

Bishop had another record night of sleep last night--he went 10 hours between feedings!! It was awesome! He ate at 8pm and then 5:15am!! I got 9 hours of sleep straight, it was great! I got up after his 5:15 feeding and got a ton done! It felt great to get so much done while everyone else was sleeping! Bishop slept in his carseat again and after his feeding, I put him down in his crib (pack and play)--he was looking at the mobile and he put himself to sleep!! He then slept for another 3 hours and I finally woke him. He's making progress everyday, it's wonderful!

Busy day

Today Bishop got to visit with a lot of friends! We had a great day!

We visited Great Grandpa Ray and Great Grandma Darlene this morning. After our visit to their house, we stopped by to meet Bishop's newest friend, Oliver. While we were there, Bishop had 2 blowouts (in one hour) and we had to borrow an outfit from Oliver to wear home because we ran out of clothes!

This afternoon, Bishop's Great Aunt Sandy stopped over to visit...it was so fun to see her!

Tonight the Steffen's came over for a spaghetti dinner! It was so fun to see them and to hang out!

It was a very busy, but fun day! We're hoping for another great night of sleep tonight!

Sleep

We had a great night last night!! Bishop's sleeping patterns have been all over the board. The longest stretch between feedings that he's had is 6 1/2 hours, which was at Grandpa and Grandma Froehle's last Friday night. Sunday and Monday night of this week he was up every 3 hours, and that was definitely a step in the wrong direction!

Last night I got 7 hours of uninterrupted sleep!! It was wonderful!! Bishop ate a little before 8pm, I went to bed at 8:30, Luke put him down (in his carseat) and the next time he ate was 3:30am! After his 3:30 feeding he slept again until 8am!! I don't expect that every night, but hopefully we can get into some sort of routine and he doesn't revert back to waking up every 3 hours! He might be sleeping in his carseat a little more now, as he seems to sleep best there!

Mother's Day 2010

It was my first Mother's day and it was so special!! We spent the weekend with all our mothers!

Friday we went to Cold Spring and Bishop and I hung out with Grandma Froehle, while Luke worked in the afternoon. Luke and I went to our friends, Ben and Jen's for dinner that night and to hang out. Saturday morning we took Grandma Froehle out for Mother's day--we went to Kay's Kitchen and Jake was able to join us.

Saturday night was girls night out! I went out with Carrie, Molly and Lisa-we went to Moscow on the Hill for dinner and went across the street to W.A. Frost for an after dinner drink. The guys all hung out at the McGovern's, with the kids, while the girls enjoyed a night out!! It was great and we all decided we weren't waiting until next Mother's day to do it again!

Mother's Day morning we stopped at The Angry Catfish for a fresh cup of coffee and then picked up donuts at the Mel-O-Glaze Bakery. It was our first experience at Mel-O-Glaze and it was WONDERFUL!! Those donuts are the real thing! Then we went to Owatonna where we celebrated with Grandma B and Great-Grandma Loken. Grandma B made us brunch and we enjoyed our time together! Bishop got me a Nick Punto Twins shirt....as Punto is my favorite Twin and I currently only have a Santana shirt (and Santana no longer plays for the Twins).

That afternoon we took a walk to SeaSalt....it was perfect! We walked to SeaSalt and hung out outside the entire afternoon/evening, eating delicious seafood and drinking beer/wine! We were there for 3 hours! We took Bishop in the Chariot and he did great! He had a blowout, so it was a good thing we brought diapers and extra clothes.

All in all, it was the perfect 1st Mother's day! I LOVE being a mother and Bishop makes it so easy, as he is such a good baby boy!! I could never have imagined how much joy he would bring to my life or how much I would enjoy EVERY second with him, but it has been amazing!!

Bishop is 3 months old today! It's amazing to see how much he's grown and changed in the first 3 months of his life. He is such a happy boy--he is smiling, laughing and talking a lot these days! One of his favorite things to do is to lay on his activity mat and kick his legs and look and listen to the star above him!

I am so blessed to have a healthy, happy boy!!
